OSINT and PAI training for government and defense research teams

Safely discover, synthesize, analyze, and report publicly available information to produce actionable insight for decision makers.

Open-source intelligence training at TechOps Academy is built around one method: safely discover, synthesize, analyze, and report publicly available information (PAI) so that decision makers get insight they can act on. The same secure research tradecraft underpins every course in this focus area, from a five-day introduction to ten-day certification courses.

Who the training is for

Our OSINT and PAI courses are written for intelligence analysts, targeting and due diligence teams, CI/HUMINT practitioners, protective details, and anyone in government whose work depends on open-source research. CASO and several specialty courses are US Government only; Advanced Digital Discovery (AD²) and other open courses give mixed government and contractor teams a common foundation—see the course catalog for eligibility.

How the courses fit together

Advanced Digital Discovery (AD2) is the tool-agnostic on-ramp. CASO I is the core open-source research course and the certification most of our government customers require; CASO II, AOIT2, Investigational Python, and the dark web specialty courses build on it. COSMO and MicroCOSMO are dedicated-course alternatives for organizations that want a complete OSINT program taught to their own team, at their site if needed.

Why teams train with Parsons TOG

The Technical Operations Group, a Parsons subdirectorate, teaches the research methods its own practitioners use. Instructors hold the clearances needed to train in your environment, and every course can be shaped to your program of instruction: Intel, IO, targeting, due diligence, CI/HUMINT, or civil reconnaissance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between OSINT and PAI training?
Publicly available information (PAI) is the raw material; open-source intelligence (OSINT) is what analysts produce from it. Our courses teach both halves, from safely discovering and collecting PAI to synthesizing, analyzing, and reporting it as finished insight. The terms are used interchangeably in most government requirements, and the tradecraft is the same.
Which open-source research course should I take first?
Mixed government and contractor teams, or anyone new to digital research, start with Advanced Digital Discovery (AD2), a five-day tool-agnostic introduction that is open to all. US Government personnel ready for the full certification course go straight to CASO I.
Who is eligible for CASO training?
CASO I, CASO II, and the CASO specialty courses are US Government only. Contractors may attend when sponsored and paid for by a US Government customer. Several catalog courses—including AD², Investigational Python, AI-XR, and CENTAR—are open to all; see each course page for prerequisites.
Is OSINT certification included?
Completing CASO I and its practical assessments earns the CASO certification. COSMO, a ten-day intensive delivered as a dedicated course, carries its own certification. Certificates are issued through the TOG course manager.
Can the training be delivered at our location?
Yes. Courses run as scheduled online sessions, in person at our classrooms in Herndon, VA and Fayetteville, NC, or through a mobile training team at your site, including outside the United States. Dedicated iterations can be tailored to your mission.
