LNX-101
Prepare to conduct PAI research on a Debian-based Linux distribution, from command-line basics to installing and customizing investigation tools.
OSINT Essentials with Linux (L-C) prepares students to conduct PAI research using a Debian-based Linux distribution. We train on both Kali and Ubuntu to highlight the utility of many of Kali's built-in investigation tools.
The course is also an excellent introduction to the Linux operating system. It covers the basics of Linux command-line usage, including permission management and shell scripting to automate routine tasks. Students learn to locate and install additional tools from internet repositories including PyPI, GitHub, and GitLab, read script files, customize their tool installation, troubleshoot a malfunctioning installation, and install containerized software such as Snaps, Flatpaks, and Docker containers.
